November Events at the Library

SIOUX CITY —Join the Sioux City Public Library for an exciting November.
On the first Saturday of every month, the Library hosts a super-sized storytime with songs, rhymes and crafts. On the November 1 event, celebrate DinoVember with pterrific books, dino-mite songs and t-rexcellent activities. After Storytime, attendees will make their own dinosaur and search for dino tracks. The fun begins at 11 a.m. at Aalfs Downtown Library, 529 Pierce Street. The event is designed for ages 2-9, but all ages are welcome to attend.

On the second, third and fourth Saturdays of each month, the Library offers a special 20-minute Baby Storytime at 9:30 a.m. for ages 0-12 months and their caregiver(s). Early exposure to literacy is one way to set children up for learning success.

The third Saturday of each month at 11 a.m., patrons can enjoy Stories & Cuentos: An English-Spanish Bilingual Storytime with 30 minutes of storytelling in English and Spanish, along with a craft. The DinoVember theme continues for this event as well.

STEM Saturday begins November 22 and will be held at 11 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of the month through April. Youth ages 9-12 will investigate STEM concepts with hands-on activities using our maker cart, Spintronics and Blue-Bots. Youth ages 4-8 will explore coding with Bee Bots along with practicing balance through movement and games. Sessions are designed to provide youth with opportunities to learn valuable skills like computational thinking and problem solving.

The month of October has two big programs remaining with Read-To-Me Dogs IN COSTUME on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 2-3pm. Children in grades K-5 are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and drop-in to practice reading to gentle (and costumed!) canine listeners at the Library!

Teens are invited to After-Hours Teen Trivia Night at the Library on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Aalfs Downtown Library. This event is free and open to teens
