One of the Center’s favorite duos, Mike and Jack Langley will present “Classic Langley Originals and Holiday Favorites” at the Betty Strong Encounter Center on December 18 at 2:00 pm. Admission is free, with reception to follow. Jack and Mike have entertained audiences all over the United States and Europe. The Langley father and son duo have performed around Siouxland for 40 years and always enjoy coming back to the Betty Strong Encounter Center and its great audiences.
A familiar face in Siouxland, Ike Rayford, is the longest serving Top O' Morning club member with his membership dating back to 1998. Ike currently serves as Top O Morning's Treasurer - but has served in every capacity from his local club to District (State) Level. Ike says he continues to be a part of Toastmasters because he "loves the relationships I've made while being in an environment of growth. Mary Watts, harpist, will fill the air with beautiful music when she plays at the Betty Strong Encounter Center at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 11. Her playing always provides an afternoon of enjoyment for one and all. Watts received her Bachelors and Graduate degrees from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and has played harp with the Des Moines and Sioux City Symphonies over the past decade. The Betty Strong Encounter Center will host “Merry TUBACHRISTMAS,” a concert featuring Siouxland area tuba and euphonium players, at 12 p.m., Saturday, December 10. Admission will be free; a reception will follow. The audience will hear traditional Christmas carols arranged by composer Alec Wilder who died on Christmas Eve 1980. In addition to composing music for the tuba and euphonium, Wilder was a loyal supporter of the efforts to improve the literature and public image of these instruments. The Center

Have you noticed there have been several human trafficking billboards around town lately? Thanks to a joint effort of the Siouxland Coalition against Human Trafficking and the Woodbury County Attorney’s Office, four billboards have gone up in Woodbury County since the beginning of August. In mid-November one billboard will be up on I-29 entering Sioux City.Two billboards had slogans and designs done by unique groups.
