Ahoy, Siouxland! Explorer’s Cove Indoor Playground Sets Sail at the Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA

South Sioux City, NE (May 1 , 2025) – A wave of excitement is rolling through the Siouxland community as the Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA proudly announces the grand opening of Explorer’s Cove, a brand-new, ocean-themed indoor playground located inside the newly expanded YMCA Youth Development Center. Starting Monday, May 5, 2025, Explorer’s Cove will be open to all YMCA members and day pass guests.

The new indoor playground was the vision of YMCA CEO Rhonda Robson, brought to life through a special collaboration with Crouch Recreation. Together, they designed an imaginative adventure space built to spark creativity, encourage movement, and strengthen family connections across Siouxland.

“At the Y, we believe every child deserves a place to imagine, explore, and belong,” said Rhonda Robson, CEO of the Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA. “Explorer’s Cove is more than a playground—it is a place where young minds and growing hearts find new adventures and new connections every day. Designing this space alongside Crouch Recreation and Nebraska’s own Eric Crouch made it even more special, and we’re proud to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to Siouxland families.”

Inside Explorer’s Cove, children will discover a custom-built pirate ship, octagon-shaped climbing structures inspired by icebergs, and interactive adventure zones that bring the spirit of exploration to life. Whether kids are “sailing the high seas,” “scaling icy peaks,” or simply making new friends, Explorer’s Cove invites play, creativity, and discovery.

Explorer’s Cove Indoor Playground Hours:
Monday–Friday: 10:00 AM–1:00 PM & 5:30 PM–8:30 PM
Saturday: 8:30 AM–4:00 PM
Sunday: 10:30 AM–4:00 PM
