Siouxland District Health Emergency Preparedness Grant Coordinator
ENTRY SALARY: $20.72/hour (Plus Benefits/IPERS)
Siouxland District Health is seeking an Emergency Preparedness Grant Coordinator. This is a grant funded position. The Emergency Preparedness Grant Coordinator will plan, organize, coordinate activities for the service-area healthcare coalition. The coordinator will follow grant guidance and the coalition's activities to aid coalition members in planning for and responding to all hazards emergencies. The coordinator also performs laboratory duties at SDHD including water analysis, quality control, laboratory equipment maintenance, and infectious disease follow-up.
Provide consultation and technical assistance to local service-area partners in the development, implementation and quality assurance review of federal and state grant related activities.
Coordinate service area objectives and activities with local partners to assure IDPH contractual and federal grant standards and objectives are met.
Attend general membership meetings and committee meetings and takes notes, as needed. Work with State staff to clarify service-area work plan responsibilities.
Provide communication to service-area partners regarding work plans and responsibilities. Facilitate and assist with building service-area partnerships.
Assist with identification and tracking of service-area resources.
Assist with service-area coordination and logistics of service-area exercises and trainings.
Assure service-area partners have access to and respond to tests and alerts sent by the Iowa Health Alert Network.
Collect data from service-area partners for contractual reports.
Coordinate service-area committee meetings, agenda, minutes and logistics. Meet with State coalition coordinators, as needed.
Provide guidance on budgets, progress reports, use of funds and work plans for service-area partners.
Assist service-area partners in developing future grants or request for proposals.
Research and assist with service-area purchases in coordination with the fiscal agent, State staff and partners.
Develop templates for reporting and collection of grant required data.
Assist and coordinate completion and submission of the Iowa EMS System Standards Self- Assessment.
Coordinate service-area partners to identify special at risk populations.
Assist in developing strategies to fill gaps related to special at risk populations
Agency Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with the quality improvement process within the agency.
Ensure compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) covering the security and privacy of confidential client data.
Ensure participant records and communication with participants, co-workers and other health professionals are in accordance with Confidentiality Policy.
Attend and participate in work-related meetings, conferences/seminars and committees.
Assist in agency/division planning and response to disaster situations and emergency situations or events in conjunction with agency emergency plan.
Provide customer service that is courteous and responsive.
Demonstrate professional oral, phone and written communication skills.
Model professional behavior to peers and participants.
Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITY:
High school diploma or GED required.
A 2 or 4-year degree in the biological sciences, public health administration, epidemiology, nursing or related field, preferred.
Previous experience in emergency-related fields such as emergency management, EMS, fire and law enforcement, preferred.
Experience in related fields such as nursing, public health, hospital preparedness, environmental health and safety, infectious disease or health education is also acceptable.
Experience or knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) is beneficial.
CPR Certification required or be willing to attend training.
Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to obtain car insurance at agency-specified liability level.
