SUMMARY:Small Business Education Series 7/21/17
DESCRIPTION:Why Small Businesses Succeed (and How They Fail)\n\nTimm Funk & Linda Krei\n\nTimm Funk Associates\, LLC\n\n\n\nHave you ever wondered why some small businesses succeed\, while others struggle? Drawing from their decades of combined experience working with businesses large and small\, Timm Funk and Linda Krei will share real world examples of small businesses gone wrong and common traits of successful businesses. In this highly interactive presentation\, Timm and Linda will offer practical pointers for your small business and help you identify potential pitfalls before they become a problem.\n\n\n\nAbout Timm Funk\n\nFifteen years ago\, Timm Funk recognized a common trend among small business owners. Each wanted to grow their companies\, but spent so much time managing HR\, bookwork and accounting\, they barely had time. He understood--especially from a financial aspect--that having a CFO on staff wasn't feasible\, and yet smaller companies have the most to gain from having sound accounting and fully developed financial reporting practices.\n\n\n\nIt was then he created Timm Funk Associates\, an interim CFO and business transition service. From here he could provide CFO services to businesses on an as-needed basis\, which allowed them to keep their costs down while benefiting from his insight\, data analytics\, and financial reporting. Timm has facilitated business turnarounds and acquisitions\, and has been appointed trustee for a multi-million dollar estate. He has served as an expert witness in litigation and also supports a large insurance company in resolving 'business income loss' claims.\n\n\n\nPrior to going into business for himself\, Timm worked for 20 years in the private and not-for-profit sectors in accounting and senior management roles. He is a graduate of Briar Cliff University and is originally from Moville\, Iowa.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Linda Krei\n\nLinda is a results-oriented senior human resource executive with extensive experience including operations management and strategic partnering. Demonstrating an enthusiasm to help others self-discover their natural talents\, Linda encourages development by focusing on maximizing individual strengths\, using a positive coaching model. Her passion to serve and positive energy are contagious and help ignite a desire and confidence in others to explore "what might be" without guilt and self-burden. Linda references skills also helpful in her favorite roles as "Mom" of Carter and Abby and spouse to her high school sweet-heart for 30+ years! \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Small Business Education Series\, is a peer-to-peer information exchange presented by the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce. Join us each month as a local subject matter expert will share their expertise and experience on timely\, focused topics important to small business owners. Whether it's accounting\, HR\, legal\, banking & finance\, marketing\, or management the Small Business Education Series will give you the tools and knowledge you need to more effectively run your small business.\n\n\n\nNot a member?
