Center For Siouxland is currently seeking a Program Coordinator/Volunteer Manager
Position Description:
Are you looking for a position that will make a difference in the lives of others? Center For Siouxland is a local nonprofit with a mission of helping people, empowering lives and building futures.  The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program offers free income tax preparation and filing to those that meet the IRS annual income threshold.  The role of the VITA Coordinator is to provide oversight of VITA programming including volunteer recruitment, retention, and recognition. 
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact between the VITA Program and the IRS; respond to inquiries as needed
  • Recruit, and train, and manage all VITA volunteers; coordinate volunteer recognition at the end of tax season; maintain volunteer records and provides ongoing correspondence to volunteers
  • Complete required IRS VITA training and certifications prior to beginning of tax season; ensure all volunteers have also completed required certifications prior to being placed on the schedule and serving in the VITA Program
  • Monitor data and report deadlines and follow up with relevant parties to ensure compliance
  • Assist with marketing and publicity
  • Ensure IRS Code of Conduct and Confidentially Regulations are being practiced
  • Coordinate all aspects of site management, IRS and program requirements, and e-file administration to ensure quality, accuracy, security, and compliance with tax preparation and e-file process
  • Ensure VITA site is open as scheduled and adequately staffed
  • Prepare site logistics, security, and return preparation plans in compliance with IRS requirements; continually reviewing and updating plans as program needs/environment changes
VITA Program Coordinator must be able to complete all key duties and responsibilities successfully and with minimal supervision, reporting directly to the Executive Director. 
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience: Two years of program management and/or volunteer management.
Skills/Requirements:
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with the public; work well with diverse populations of clients and volunteers
  • Strong project management skills with timely and consistent attention to follow up
  • Effective problem solver and decision maker
  • Must be on-site during VITA site hours of operation
  • Willing to work non-standard work schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office products
