Utility Line Instructor

General Description
The purpose of this position is to instruct classes and labs as assigned by the Dean and to develop new courses. This is accomplished by maintaining requisite office hours; providing academic advisement to students; serving on college committees; attending meetings; participating in professional development activities; and performing all instructional-related activities as directed within the policies, guidelines, and regulations of Northeast Community College.

Bachelor’s degree or an Associate degree in the field with five years work experience required. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), or the ability to obtain a CDL, is required.

Requires extensive background in electrical safety and regulatory issues as it relates to high voltage rural electric work practices; knowledge in smart digital grid system as it applies to integrated communications and related equipment; knowledge of electrical equipment, connections and internal workings commencing at the substation and up to the disconnect and related safety procedures; and ability to develop and use effective organization and work procedures. Experience in education/training is desired.

High Voltage Utility Worker background required.

Special Instructions to Applicants
This position is a full-time instructor position in the Utility Line Associate’s Degree program. Interview candidates will be expected to present a 10 to 15 minute teaching demonstration and/or lecture during the interview process.
