General Description
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and oversight of the Health Information Management Systems (HIMS) Program to maintain a quality program that exceeds the expectations of the accrediting body. Develops curriculum associated with the program and measures student learning by maintaining an assessment of student learning plan as recognized by the college. Additional responsibilities are to instruct HIMS classes and labs as assigned by the Dean, providing academic advisement to students; serving on college committees; attending meetings; participating in professional development activities; and performing all instructional-related activities as directed within the policies, guidelines, and regulations of Northeast Community College.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a medical related field from an accredited program.
Experience: Teaching experience in Higher Ed. Professional work experience in medical office management, coding, HIM, privacy, electronic records, or any other health related field.
Skills: 5+ years working inside the medical field
Salary and Benefits
This position is in Salary Grade 621, with a minimum starting salary of $66,725 per annum. The successful candidate’s salary will be calculated based on education and experience within the grade range. This position is eligible for Northeast Community College’s excellent full-time fringe benefits package. Cash-in-lieu of Health Insurance may be available depending upon successful candidate’s coverage enrollment.
Special Instructions to Applicants
This program is accredited with the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The ideal candidate must hold the AHIMA credential and be either RHIA or RHIT certified.
Applicants selected for an interview will be required to deliver a 15-20 minute teaching presentation.
