Associate Director of Residence Life

The purpose of this position is to assist in building a positive community within the residence halls and apartments. The associate director will serve as an on-campus resource for the residents, implement student and community development programs, and provide supervision, training, and mentorship to the student assistants and front desk staff. The associate director ensures building security and policy enforcement, and assists with the daily responsibilities of the Residence Life department. This is accomplished by living on-site, building relationships with students, supervising the student assistants and front desk staff, and assisting with community and student development. The associate director will mediate conflicts that occur between residents, be visible and available within the community, and enforce procedures as outlined in the Residence Life Handbook. Other duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with the development of the Student Leadership Development Series programs with other campus student leadership advisors, and performing residence life related administrative duties as needed.

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, to be flexible and adaptable, and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, students, and their families; strong problem solving skills; time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks; ability to work as a professional with a customer service mindset; ability to effectively communicate with various levels of staff, and demonstrated ability to understand the needs of people from diverse backgrounds and interests.
